I love looking through my old issues of Sew Beautiful and rediscovering all the wonderful projects and techniques within. It seems I always find something new that inspires me. A lot of these issues are now out of print, however, many are available to purchase as digital downloads; these downloads feature the magazines and pattern inserts exactly as they were originally printed and you never have to worry about misplacing them or wears and tears. Of course we have Australian Smocking & Embroidery digital magazines available in our online store too, and this beautiful magazine is an endless source of inspiration and instruction as well. Take a look at some of the great issues you can download instantly:
Australian Smocking & Embroidery Issue 91: Oh my goodness – if you have a little girl to sew for, this “pretty in pink” edition of Australian Smocking & Embroidery is going to be hard to resist. The issue includes eight beautiful patterns, including Lorraine Bergeron’s sweet “Bella Rosa” bishop pictured on the cover and this darling vintage-look “Frockstar” bubble dress designed by Simela Constant.
Sew Beautiful’s Heirloom Sewing Favorites for Summer: Get a head start on your summer sewing with this special edition of Sew Beautiful. The issue includes five full patterns, including Kathy Barnard’s gorgeous “Vintage Dot: Hidden Yoke Dress” pictured on the cover, and this sweet gender-neutral “Build-A-Bib Baby Romper” designed by Cheryl Davidson.
Australian Smocking & Embroidery Issue 80: This 20th anniversary edition of Australian Smocking & Embroidery includes nine gorgeous projects, including this breathtaking cover project, “April in Paris” – a complete masterpiece from one of my favorite designers, Gail Doane. The adorable “High Tea” yoke dress designed by Kathleen Barac is perfect for a picture-smocked special occasion party dress.
Sew Beautiful February/March 2013: This spring issue of Sew Beautiful is packed with great tips and techniques! Smocking and embroidery instructions for the exquisite “Luminesce” cover dress designed by Ann Peebles and Nancy McEvoy are included in the issue (the pattern is available in our online store). The issue’s free pattern is this “Sweet Sophie” heirloom dress designed by Claudia Newton.
