We are so excited to head to Fredericksburg, VA next month for our next live and in-person event, the September School of Art Fashion Boutique! The event will be held Sept. 28-30 at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center and there are five great sewing schools you can choose from. You’ll get to spend time with Martha Pullen, who will be on hand for some fun events, and you’ll also receive a VIP general admission three-day pass to the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo, which will be held immediately after the SOAF Boutique in the same venue. Take a look at the five schools you can take:
Connie Palmer’s Royal Confections School: All the Proper Details – Connie has designed an absolute masterpiece for this school. This gorgeously detailed design can be made as a christening gown or a dress (sizes 1-4) fit for a little princess. You’ll work with pristine white 100 percent cotton Swiss batiste and the finest French laces and trims as you sew this heirloom design, all while you soak in Connie’s expert embellishing tips and fabulous construction techniques.
Linda Lee’s Knit Ensemble School – If you want to hone your sewing-on-knit skills, then Linda’s class is just for you! You will make four projects: a stylish T-shirt, a drapey jacket or vest, flattering elastic-waist pants and the perfect scarf accessory. You’ll leave the event with fantastic new clothes to wear and a refreshed approach to sewing with knits.
Missy Billingsley’s Organize Me! Embroidery School – You are going to love the projects Missy teaches in this class! The main project is a tote bag that features a pieced-in-the-hoop French braid front accented with embroidery and trim, and the coordinating projects are a notepad portfolio, zippered bag and wallet. This set will not only help you get organized (who doesn’t need a little help with that?), but you’ll also learn many valuable sewing and embroidery techniques you can apply to other projects.
Cynthia Guffey’s Contemporary Tailoring School – Learn all about fit, proportion and proper stitching for seams, topstitching, channel stitching and edge stitching as you sew a perfectly tailored jacket with Cynthia. This jacket accommodates and improves virtually any shape. During class you’ll pick up tips for making this same jacket; perhaps in a different length with new finishing details, as well as two extra styles so you can make more jackets at home.
Kathy McMakin’s I Love My Serger School – Want to fall in love with your serger? Let me help you! I’ll guide you in making six cute projects – a sweet little baby quilt with a coordinating pillowcase, two knit baby bonnets (one boy bonnet and one girl bonnet), the perfect tote and a “serge-n-flip” sewing caddy. You’ll learn all sorts of serger techniques including zippers, piping, binders, serger tucks, flatlocking, heirloom, overlock, cover and chain stitch, quilting, rolled hems, serging with knits and much, much more!

Can’t make it to Virginia? The School of Art Fashion Boutique isn’t the only event we have coming up! Our Serger I Online Licensing course begins Aug. 31. You will learn everything you ever wanted to know about sergers in this online course and receive a gorgeous ready-to-teach curriculum of projects. We’ll also be heading to Costa Mesa, CA in November for two back-to-back live licensing events, Serger II Nov. 1-6 and Vintage, Classic, Contemporary Nov. 8-13.
We pray for the men and women serving our nation in harm’s way, and for all of you.
Much Love to You All and May God Bless,
