Our licensing team is heading to Costa Mesa, CA next month for a few live and in-person events! The first event scheduled is our Serger II licensing course, which will be held Nov. 1-6 at the Hilton Orange County / Costa Mesa hotel. This course will be taught by our wonderful team of instructors – Kathy McMakin, Connie Palmer, Alicia Welcher and Peggy Dilbone – and will include special events with Martha Pullen herself.
What is Serger II Licensing?
This Serger II licensing event is a week-long retreat focused on on all things serger sewing. Serger I is not a prerequisite, and no previous serger experience is needed to take the course. Our licensing courses do not have to be taken in any particular order; the Roman numeral in the course title simply indicates the curriculum collection, since projects in each of our licensing collections are unique to that particular licensing.
When you complete the course you’ll receive your teaching license, meaning you will co-own the copyright to the class curriculum along with Martha Pullen Company forever. You can either make the projects for sale without limit or, if you’re teaching, you can copy the project instructions for your students. If you have no interest in teaching, that’s OK! Students come to our licensing events for a variety of reasons: to explore new skills, to add a ready-to-teach collection of projects to their teaching business or just to spend quality time with others who also love sewing and serging. We have many students with no plans to teach, but rather the desire to gain in-depth sewing information and take home limited edition patterns and projects.
What’s in the curriculum?
The Serger II licensing curriculum includes projects and techniques ranging in style from heirloom to classic to whimsical. There are more than 20 projects in all. Quilting, home decorating and garments for baby, children and adults are all included. Think quilts, heirloom dresses, christening gowns, a child’s jacket and pants, Christmas stockings, a ladies knit nightgown, a ladies technique jacket, pillows, bibs, bonnets, placemats, napkins and more. You’ll learn countless serger techniques and take home more than 200 pages of curriculum that you own the right to reproduce for your own teaching purposes as well as a Stitch Notebook with actual stitch samples already stitched for you! All project patterns are included, and garment patterns are multi-sized.
