When you’re looking for a quick-and-easy baby gift, you can certainly never go wrong with ready-to-embroider knits. From baby bubbles to bibs, there are plenty of ready-made items you can quickly make special with embroidery, appliqué and other embellishments. Below, we’ve gathered together a handful of ideas for making baby’s gift extra unique:
Woodland Critter Knits – Mr. Owl, Miss Hedgehog and Friend Fox make a happy trio on this two-piece outfit stitched by Charlotte Gallaher. Fit for a girl or a boy, this personal gift is quick-and-easy to whip up for a special friend. The four Woodland Critter designs (baby bird with mushroom not shown) are from our 2012 Internet Embroidery Club.
Knit Baby Daygowns – A baby can never have too many daygowns, and these soft-and-comfy knits from Kathy McMakin offer adorable embellishment options like bows and monograms. While these additions may be used on ready-to-embroider items as well, check out Kathy’s Knit Baby Daygowns & Bonnets DVD (available in our online store) if you’d like to sew up the daygowns on your serger.
Beatrix Potter Knits – Stitching out the storybook classics in watercolor pastel threads is an adorable way to whip up a one-of-a-kind baby ensemble. Amelia Johanson stitched Beatrix Potter bunnies on baby blanks to create this onesie and bib. An online search for Peter Rabbit or Beatrix Potter designs yields options for any embroidery machine model.
Tutu Cute Skirted Knit Bubble – Kari Mecca embellished a ready-to-wear skirted knit baby bubble with a pink chiffon tutu, pink scalloped ombré trim, rainbow rattail single loop flowers and gingham ribbon leaves. Instructions for this precious bubble can be found in Kari’s book More Sewing with Whimsy, available in our store.
