Easter is just around the corner! This is one of my favorite occasions to sew for – between Easter Sunday heirloom finery and adorable bunny rabbit and Easter egg smocking and embroidery, there is just so much cuteness you can create for little ones this time of the year. To help you plan your projects, I’ve pulled together a handful of ideas for you:

Easter1

Easter Parade Dress & Belle Heir Shirt & Pants

Easter Parade Dress: This special occasion white linen dress designed by Marian Sitko features a fully smocked bodice with panels of white diamonds bordered with blue sky and tiny blue flowerettes. The digital pattern includes sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7 years).

Belle Heir Shirt & Pants: Dress your little boy in special Easter attire with this darling set from our book Sewing for a Royal Baby. An antique reproduction, the shirt features a V-shaped yoke and piped tucks. The book includes two options for the pants – pull-on shorts as shown here or button-on shorts. Pattern sizes are: shirt (2-6), button-on shorts (2-6) and pull-on shorts (2-4). You can also get the free tutorial for recreating the design’s piped tucks here on our blog.

Peter Cottontail Smocking Plate

Peter Cottontail Smocking Plate: Who doesn’t love Peter Cottontail? Designed by Gwen Milner, this precious smocking plate features the famous little tan bunny wearing his blue coat. This design was first introduced back in 1985, and we republished it in our February/March 2014 issue of Sew Beautiful for a new generation of little ones.

Easter3

Bunny Love Romper and Princess Charlotte Baby Dress & Bonnet

Bunny Love Romper: Designed by Julie Graue, this cute romper from Australian Smocking & Embroidery issue 97 would make a great Easter outfit for any baby. The bodice is embroidered with a bunny rabbit, and the piped insert is smocked with an easy trellis design. The romper pattern comes in sizes 6, 12 and 18 months, and even includes matching little comfortable fabric shoes that tie at the front with satin ribbon laces!

Princess Charlotte Baby Dress & Bonnet: For baby girls, the Princess Charlotte ensemble from Sewing for a Royal Baby would be perfect for Easter. Designed by Wendy Schoen, the linen baby dress and bonnet features a T-style yoke. The hand embroidery includes bullion roses, swirling stems, eyelets and granitos, and a detached applique dogwood flower is positioned on the front of the dress and bonnet. The edges of both pieces are finished with tiny buttonhole scalloping. The pattern is size 6 months only.
