We’re just a few weeks away from our live and in-person events in Costa Mesa, CA! We’ll kick off this trio of events with our Serger II licensing course, followed by a special one-day Martha Pullen And More event and wrap up with our new licensing course Vintage, Classic, Contemporary. Space is full for the latter event, but we do have openings in the other two if you would like to join us! Serger II will provide you with a wonderful ready-to-teach curriculum of serger projects, and I promise you will have so much fun sewing, learning and laughing with us throughout the week! Our Martha Pullen And More event will be a day of inspirational fun – I’ll be teaching my Little French Bonnet Class, plus there will be shopping, mini-clinics and more all leading up to An Evening With Martha.
Once we get home from the California events, we’ll be kicking off our next online licensing course, Teaching Beginning Sewing II. This online course begins November 15 and will prepare you to teach beginning sewing with a curriculum of over 30 – that’s right, 30! – projects. Visit our online licensing page to learn more and reserve your spot.
This week I’ve gathered together a few adorable fall sewing ideas for little ones. From cute smocked garments to a little pumpkin purse tote, these designs are perfect for autumn weather:
Pretty Poppet: Designed by Denise Bakes, this adorable dress is featured in issue 81 of Australian Smocking & Embroidery. The scalloped neckline, arms and sash are trimmed with piping and the hem is finished with a large tuck. The cable smocking at the top of the bodice and waist band feature a trailing vine of embroidered blooms. The matching cardigan makes a perfect coverup for cool fall days and is decorated with sprays of matching flowers.
Play Frock: This precious dress from Lindsay Wilkes’ book Sew Classic Clothes for Girls is perfect for school or playtime and the design offers a lot of fun ways to play with patterned fabrics and trims.
Little Pumpkins: Create cute seasonal smocking with less effort than it takes to carve a pumpkin with this sweet-and-simple design by Michie’ Mooney. Instructions are featured in the August/September 2014 issue of Sew Beautiful for smocking the design on both a baby bubble and a bishop dress. This design is perfect for both boys and girls.
Annika’s Pumpkin Purse: Featured in our July/August 2004 issue of Sew Beautiful, this little drawstring pumpkin tote designed by Maja Clayton is the perfect fall accessory for little ones and is available in our online store this month as a special mini-kit.
Schoolhouse A-Line Smocked Dress: This sweet little dress was designed by Gail Doane for our final issue of Sew Beautiful, and it has such an adorably classic look to it. The dress pattern is for sizes 2T – 8 and you can choose from two color options: a pretty green floral print fabric with blue trim or a red floral print fabric with yellow trim.

We pray for the men and women serving our nation in harm’s way, and for all of you.
