GENERAL INFORMATION PRE-DAY CLASSES SCHOOLS REGISTRATION

Dear Friends,

Please accept my personal invitation for you to come to our February 2010, School of Art Fashion - Celebrating the Old and the New! Registration opens September 16, 2009 at 8:00am CST. Please call 800-547-4176, ext. 105 to register. This school is all about YOU and the techniques we have learned from antique garment collections!!! First, I want to thank Baby Lock, Bernina, Husqvarna/Viking, and Pfaff for sending machines and teachers! Without their help, I just don't know what we would do! We have so many fabulous schools and teachers and some really big excitement from Baby Lock. Baby Lock will give fabulous door prizes—a Baby Lock machine or serger EVERY SINGLE DAY! Thanks, Baby Lock, for these fabulous door prizes! We will also have a special gift for everyone every day and an extra special gift for everyone at the banquet. We are so excited to have Walter Floriani, a fifth generation digitizer, here during the pre-days, and we invite you to register for his FREE Embroidery Suite Digitizing Software Seminars. The pre-day classes are more exciting than ever, and many people come for the whole week of pre-day classes as well as the four-day school. About half of our students are here for the very first time at each school. The others have come from 2 times to 35 times in the past!! I’m not kidding! Do not be afraid to come alone. You will have new best friends as soon as you arrive, and we will take very good care of you, I promise. By the way, this is the best "girlfriend getaway trip" that we can possibly think of—that is, if your girlfriend loves to sew! If her hobby is cooking she won’t find much in the way of classes, because we do all of the cooking for you this week!

I promise you total Southern hospitality and the best teachers who also teach with Southern hospitality. That spells NICE. We will pamper you and give it our all to make this the best vacation you have ever had. Well, among the best, I promise. Some have told us it was the best.

Our schools have grown and developed into such wonderful events. We love producing this school so that YOU, the most important reason that we have the schools, can experience the joy and excitement of learning new sewing techniques. The sewing machine companies are so generous in sending teachers, machines and assistants at their own cost, that we absolutely could not offer this school without their help. Many of you already know that we have the world’s greatest staff. They will be offering an enormous amount of their energy and care to ensure that you have one of the best times of your life. We have 12 fabulous adult schools to choose from, and I promise that one of them will be perfect for you. Our list of schools is spectacular!! As always, we will have the fabulous Beginning Heirloom School where you will make a gorgeous christening or party dress. Michié Mooney will show you the basics of constructing and smocking garments for children. The Louise Cutting Fashion School will include stylish clothing and great techniques. Beverley Sheldrick’s School will delight you not only with Beverley’s teaching but also with her gorgeous projects. Kari Mecca’s Embellishing School will have surprises galore. Wendy Schoen’s Baby School is perfect for your grandmother’s hope chest or for that new baby already planned or on the way. Lezette Thomason will thrill you with her techniques for construction in the Bernina School. We are so excited to have Sue Pennington Stewart back with us in the Pfaff School and are sure that her quilts will inspire you! The Viking School features beautiful projects with Connie Palmer and Peggy Dilbone. Baby Lock is presenting NOT ONE BUT THREE SCHOOLS! Evy Hawkins and Hope Yoder will team up for an absolutely wonderful school using Baby Lock Embroidery and Embellisher machines. The second Baby Lock School features sewing and serging with Pam Mahshie and Missy Billingsley. The third Baby Lock School is an explosion of creativity that includes sewing, embroidery, the Embellisher and the new BL Sashiko machine with Evy Hawkins, Phyllis Triplett and Cathy Gandy!

We furnish bus transportation from the hotels across the street to the convention center in the morning and back to the hotels at night. Our retail store in the Von Braun Center will be open Monday through Sunday. In the store you will find discounts on many items including fabrics, laces and sewing notions.

On Thursday night, we begin our celebration of the old and the new as I present my Antique Clothing Hanger Fashion Show with some stories about sewing today and sewing 100 years ago. This is also my official greeting to the group. You will have the opportunity all week to view some of my antique clothing collection on display around the MPC retail store. Thursday night is also the Potato Bar and Table Top Clinic night. This is a great night to snap lots of pictures. Right after the tabletops, I will give a presentation on how “You Can Make Money from Your Hobby.” Friday night is the Fashion Show and Banquet where you will receive a special Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion gift as a thank-you for attending. Joe and I will host a barbecue at the Huntsville Museum of Art on Saturday night. It is a beautiful place, and we will be serving delicious Southern barbecue as well as homemade pies. I conduct an optional Sunday school class at 7:30am at the Von Braun Center Sunday morning and would love to see you there.

We can’t wait to see you in February 2010 at the Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion. Whether you are a returning student for the 35th time or you are coming for the very first time, I can’t wait to see all of you. “Sewing Made Easy” is our business motto, and I promise you will experience this when you come to our school. We have the world’s best instructors. They are wonderful teachers and loving, caring individuals. I am pleased to tell you that we have the world’s nicest staff. We invite you to come for the sewing vacation of a lifetime.

I cannot wait for you to come to the February school. We will be waiting for you.

May God Bless You,
Martha
