Letter (this week) from Debbie, Martha Pullen Licensed Teacher (many times) from Tennessee
I have 7 signed up for my premier class Saturday. The store has really talked it up and they must like my samples. I have missed teaching and am amazed at how easy the prep is because I have 1. the skill set of techniques I can’t wait to share and yaya knowledge 2. an understanding from the student side what makes a great class and 3. the step by step vision of the logical progression knowing we can do this, do it well and have fun. Thank you licensing teachers and MP for making this so much fun. I am so thankful for the gifts I have received.
Can’t wait for October 8. Much love to you, my encourager and friend.
Dear Sewing Family,
How does one spell LOVE?? How does one spell Heart Spilling Out From Knowing That One Is Doing What One Is Supposed To Be Doing???? Those emotions have been bursting from my heart all week as we have had the most spectacular group of ladies from sea to shining sea from all over the United States and Wendy from Australia. California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi,Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, New York, Utah, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio, Minnesota, Alabama, South Carolina and more–the roll call goes on. We have laughed, cried, sewed, planned, eaten lots of good food, laughed some more, sewed and sewed, discussed businesses, shared teaching plans, shared other business ideas, shared pictures, prayed together, shopped at the warehouse, traveled to Jennifer’s to have our portraits made, and traveled to our house for our bar be que and to visit the “attic” which is a total mess as many of you know. But it is there that the real antique garments, my total collection is housed. Oh, how I love these licensings. Oh how I love for you ladies to come to Huntsville. Oh how I love knowing how much your trips mean to you and your lives and your well-being.
The last night at the barbeque at our home the ladies wanted me to tell my Spanks story!! You know I love telling funny stories and they laughed so hard I told my pizza box story as well as many others. We laughed and laughed and laughed sitting in our living room and dining room. We just pulled in chairs for a wonderful going away time. The ladies gathered around me for a special surprise presentation thanking the teachers and me for this special time. They said some very precious things and of course I cried!! Then they presented a VERY GENEROUS DONATIONS TO TWO OF MY FAVORITE CHARITIES—St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Africa New Life Ministries Sewing Ladies in Rwanda. Of course I cried some more!!! The checks were sent the next day to help soooo much with the work of both of those organizations. You know part of my heart lives in Memphis, TN and in Rwanda, Africa. Thank you again sweet ladies for your caring about those two groups of people. The money will be used very carefully by both groups.
I have big dreams for your teaching. Many of you do too. Many of you really don’t want to teach but truly want to build other types of home based businesses such as embroidery or custom christening dresses or custom baby presents or precious child of God pillows or 18” doll clothes and accessories. One sweet lady from Massachusetts has a thriving business making teddy bears. Some she makes from old shirts especially from a deceased loved one, and from old fur coats. Some of her best sellers are made from baby colors in Minky or terry cloth. She has booths at craft fairs and does very well. She also makes 18” doll purses and sells all she can make.
The endless possibilities for home based businesses with hand crafted items are endless. So many of the ladies are teaching many different classes and they cannot wait to get home to teach these classes. One lady does extremely well (20 students at a time) teaching stabilizer classes! Others are doing private lessons teaching machine use and digitizing. Others are teaching projects and heirloom sewing. Others are teaching serger classes and others are teaching beginning sewing and kid’s sewing. Home based businesses are thriving in this country and many are doing extremely well earning money while working from a home base! Lots are embroidering and selling on Etsy. Many christening dresses are being sold from Etsy. Many classes are being taught to people wanting to make their own family christening dress or communion dress or portrait dress. The teaching possibilities are almost endless for teaching sewing!
So goodbye for now my precious Heirloom II Licensed Teachers. I’ll see most of you again. Next week I will be in Tucson for a big Baby Lock event and I’ll also get to see my Arizona family for the week end. Then we start our Serger III licensing and I cannot wait!!! I love sewing events!
