Please accept my personal invitation for you to come to our July 2012 School of Art Fashion. The 25th birthday party for Sew Beautiful magazine!
We absolutely love a reason to celebrate at our school and in 2012 we will be celebrating 25 years of the most beautiful magazine there has ever been! The very first Sew Beautiful magazine was released in the fall of 1987 and each year I believe it has become more beautiful and exciting. Many of the talented artists featured in the pages of Sew Beautiful magazine through the years will be teaching at our School of Art Fashion in 2012. Go ahead and decide today that you will join us in the celebration during July and also that you will subscribe to Sew Beautiful magazine!
Our brand new easy online registration will begin on April 11, 2012 at 8:00am CST. This school is all about YOU and helping YOU to learn the fabulous sewing and heirloom techniques that we have enjoyed sharing for 31 years!!!
First, I want to thank Baby Lock, Bernina, Husqvarna/Viking, and Pfaff for sending machines and teachers! Without their generous help, I just don’t know what we would do! We have so many fabulous schools and teachers and some really generous gifts from Baby Lock. Baby Lock will give fabulous door prizes—a Baby Lock machine or serger EVERY SINGLE DAY! Thanks, Baby Lock, for these fabulous door prizes! We will also have a special gift for everyone every day and an extra special Sew Beautiful birthday gift for everyone at the banquet.
The pre-day classes are more exciting than ever, and many people come for the whole week - for pre-day classes as well as the four-day school. About half of our students are here for the very first time at each school. The others have come from two times to 35 times in the past!! I’m not kidding! Do not be afraid to come alone. You will have new best friends as soon as you arrive, and we will take very good care of you, I promise. Our schools have grown and developed into such wonderful events over the past years.
Once again, we are having our Sew Kool for Kids Sewing School as well as the Teen Sewing School this summer. We will have fantastic educators from the Baby Lock Company that will teach each day in the kids’ and teens’ classes. We are also excited that Kelly Chaffin will be joining us as a guest instructor in the Baby Lock Teen Sewing School.
Many of you already know that we have the world’s greatest staff. They will be offering an enormous amount of energy and care to ensure that you are treated like royalty! We have 16 fabulous adult schools to choose from, and I believe that one of them will be perfect for you. Our list of schools is spectacular!! As always, we will have the fabulous Pfaff Beginning Heirloom School where you will make a gorgeous christening gown or heirloom party dress with Patty Smith. All the way from Australia, we welcome Gloria McKinnon for a week of handwork and embellishing crazy patch. Debbie Glenn will be back to mesmerize you with her advanced sewing techniques. The Gail Doane Sewing for Girls School will feature fine construction, smocking and handwork. Michié Mooney will share with you the basics of constructing ready-to-smock garments for children. Kari Mecca’s Embellishing School will have surprises galore. Wendy Schoen’s School is the place to perfect your heirloom techniques. Create a trio of women’s tops in the Sis Boom School with Carla Crim, the Scientific Seamstress. Lezette Thomason will thrill you with her techniques for classic children’s clothing construction in the Bernina School. We are so excited to have Sue Pennington Stewart with us in the Pfaff/Zündt School where embroidery magic will happen! And the third Pfaff School will be the Pfaff Quilting School with Donna Robertson. The Viking School features Peggy Dilbone and Hope Yoder in the most exciting Viking School ever offered. Baby Lock is presenting NOT ONE, BUT FOUR SCHOOLS! The Baby Lock Sew & Serge School features sewing and serging with Pam Mahshie and Missy Billingsley. The second is the Baby Lock Embellishing School, an explosion of creativity that includes sewing, embroidery, the Embellisher and the BL Sashiko machine with Evy Hawkins. The third Baby Lock School features sewing for girls and dolls with the talented Connie Palmer. And the fourth Baby Lock school is the Totally Stitchin’ School with Deborah Moebes.
Our retail store in the Von Braun Center will be open Monday through Sunday. In the store you will find discounts on many items, including fabrics, laces and sewing notions. On Thursday night, we will begin the celebration with my official greeting to the group. Thursday night is also the Potato Bar and Table Top Clinic night. This is a great night to snap lots of pictures. Right after the tabletops, I will give a presentation on how “You Can Make Money from Your Hobby.” Friday night will be our special banquet and Student Fashion Show evening. Joe and I will host a barbecue at the Huntsville Museum of Art on Saturday night. It is a beautiful place, and we will be serving delicious Southern barbecue as well as homemade pies. I conduct an optional Sunday school class at 7:30am at the Von Braun Center on Sunday morning. I would love to see you there. We can’t wait to see you in July 2012 at the Martha Pullen School of Art Fashion. Whether you are a returning student for the 35th time or you are coming for the very first time, I can’t wait to see all of you. “Sewing Made Easy” is our business motto, and I promise you will experience this when you come to our school. We have the world’s best instructors. They are wonderful teachers and loving, caring individuals. I am pleased to tell you that we have the world’s nicest staff. We invite you to come for the sewing vacation of a lifetime.
I cannot wait for you to come to the July School. We will be waiting for you.
