Connie’s Zig Zag Quilt

Piece-Fully Yours with Connie Palmer — Connie Palmer’s workshops are known for their fun, and how much her students learn during their time with her. This class will include three fantastic projects: her gorgeous Zig Zag quilt, a coordinating pillowcase and a fabulous purse organizer. The Zig Zag quilt is full of wonderful details. Connie will share with you her most creative and clever construction techniques and show you all the ways her favorite ruler makes it so simple to make. The pillowcase, in coordinating fabrics, features the same ingenious deign details as your quilt. The purse organizer insert is fun-to-make and better-to-use, with lots of handy storage pockets.

Fitting Clinic: Fine Tuning for a Superior Silhouette with Cynthia Guffey — Get an in-depth lesson on the finer points of fitting with Cynthia Guffey, all while working with patterns of your choice. Bring three patterns that you’ve altered to the best of your ability, and the mock-up for each. Cynthia will teach you how to refine the looks – as you learn how to fit for comfort, function and fashion and create a wardrobe of flattering clothes you’ll love.

My Knit Baby Bonnet

I Love My Serger with Kathy McMakin — Want to spend your time learning wonderful serger techniques and making cute serger projects? In my class we’ll cover everything from basic to more advanced serger techniques while making five different projects: A Sweet Baby Quilt with a coordinating Sweet Little Pillowcase, two Knit Baby Bonnets (for a boy and girl) and my Serge-n-Flip Sewing Caddy. The quilt has a beautiful heirloom center surrounded by sashing, borders and cornered bow tie blocks. The sweet bonnets make perfect little baby gift, and the sewing caddy will come in so handy in your sewing space. Some of the techniques we’ll cover are inserting zippers, piping, serger tucks, flatlocking, cover and chain stitch, serging with knits, beginning heirloom techniques and much more.

The Art of Applique for Quiltmakers with Sharon Schamber and Cristy Fincher — Join the wonderful mother-and-daughter team of Sharon Schamber and Cristy Fincher for an extraordinary retreat experience. You’ll explore machine appliqué, hand appliqué, turned edge, raw edge and embellishment stitches that will bring your appliqué to life. Then you’ll incorporate one, two or all the techniques you want on a 18” – 24” quilt block that you can later turn into a small wall-hanging or use as the focal point of a larger quilt. Sharon and Cristy will also teach you all about quilting design variations and guide you in practicing straight line, free-motion (with lines) and more on a pre-printed fabric panel.

As part of your retreat experience, you’ll also enjoy a VIP general admission three-day pass to the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo, which will be held immediately after the School of Art Fashion Boutique in the same venue on Nov. 10-12. Learn more or register for the Minneapolis School of Art Fashion Boutique here!

We pray for the men and women serving our nation in harm’s way, and for all of you.

Much Love To You All & May God Bless,
