Last-Minute Christmas Embroidery Ideas

With just five days to go until Christmas, I know many of you are winding down your holiday sewing. But sometimes you need that last-minute something to make everything come together – a quick decorative accent to add that final touch to your decorations or perhaps an easy gift to complete the perfect present. Most of these ideas below can be stitched up super quickly using machine embroidery downloads and ready-to-embroider items – so you’ll still have the time you need to finish everything else on your to-do list:

Christian & Christmas Symbols (left) & FSL Snowflakes

Christian & Christmas Symbols: Make something easy and elegant with this Christmas Trumpet or other designs from our Christian & Christmas Symbols embroidery download, available in our online store. All of these designs fit your 4×4-inch hoops, so they are the perfect size for ready-made tea towels and more.

Free-Standing Lace Snowflakes: One of our annual Internet Embroidery Club traditions is that we always give members a free-standing snowflake design or two as a special gift at the end of the year. These have become a favorite among our IEC members, and they are quick-and-easy to make for your tree or as a gift.

Retro Christmas Stitchin’

Retro Christmas Stitchin’: Want to update your Christmas party table this year? Our Retro Christmas Stitchin’ download (available in our online store) has 12 great designs for decorating ready-to-embroider linens. Table cloths, placemats, napkins and more will all look adorable stitched with these 5×7 designs. Add ribbon embellishments for an extra festive touch. These would also be great to stitch up for Christmas party or hostess gifts!

Seasonal Swirls – Blue Christmas Tree (left) & 2015 IEC

Seasonal Swirls – Blue Christmas Tree: This cute wreath designed by Shannon Miller was featured in issue #133 of Sew Beautiful. The 5×7 tree is an original design created by Shannon and is available to download in our online store. To recreate the wreath, start with an inexpensive foam wreath, then rip 1-inch strips of fabric and tie them around the wreath to completely cover the foam. After trimming and fluffing the fabric tails, cut a circle of cardboard large enough to cover the inside hole of the wreath and use spray adhesive to attach fabric embroidered with the design. The cardboard circle can be attached to the back of the wreath using fabric glue, tape or pins so the tree is centered.

2015 Internet Embroidery Club: To receive plenty of machine embroidery inspiration throughout the new year, be sure to check out our new 2015 Internet Embroidery Club. This gorgeous cross is from the “Religious Symbols” collection – see more designs here.
