7. Puffing Christening Dress Many of you know of my great love for puffing. This little dress has three different widths of puffing. The narrow puffing on the v'd bodice has strips of Swiss insertion between the puffing strips. On the skirt there is a wide puffing ( 2-1/2 inches) with the same Swiss insertion on both sides. There are two sets of five tucks on either side of this Swiss insertion. There is a piece of Swiss edging stitched flat to the bottom of this dress. This dress is 46 inches long, which is long for this era. The back of this dress is very sweet. There is a little sash stitched on several inches below the bodice. At the bottom of the sash are puffing, three tucks on either side of the puffing and the Swiss edging stitched onto the bottom of the sash. The back of the bodice is almost exactly like the front of the bodice. It closes with three buttons and three hidden buttonholes. |
